Tamaki College Sports Day
Yesterday all Year 8's from Ruapotaka, Point England, Glen Innes Primary, Glen Taylor and Glen Brae schools went to Tamaki College for a sports day. The day was only for the Year 8's because they are going to Tamaki College next year as a student. Each student had a photo taken with their name and also with a sticker on their shirt. On the sticker there was another one that was a colour, my colour was blue. Mr Stevenson called out all of the colours so everyone could go in their teams. The first activity we did was Volleyball, the teacher split us up in 4 teams. In my team I had Tevita Smith (Who use to come Ruapotaka) and Hemi (A boy who goes Glen Brae. The teacher was encouraging the other teams because we were the King of the court. We won all of our matches because we were just to good. The Other activity's were Netball, Touch, Basketball, ABV activity's, Softball including Volleyball. We all were exhausted and tired.

Mega Tsunami: Would Auckland Survive?
Following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake, equal in power to the one that destroyed Napier in 1931, Civil Defence initially issude no Tsunami warning but 55 minutes afterwards did so, claiming a tsunami was possible. A 2m high tsunami had already hit the Kaikoura coast by then. Some people in Kaikoura and Wellington had already left for higher ground, but others haven't.

Adidas Pull Sponsorship Of Athletics
The sportswear company Adidas has announced that it will stop the sponsorship for athletics equipment.
Apparently the move is because of the allegations of athletes doping. Adidas have been sponsoring athletics ever since 2008 it was a deal that was suppose to last 12 years. When it was signed the deal was worth about NZ money 51 million dollars.
Adidas thinks there is too much risk for their brand reputation to continue with the IAAF.

Duffy
On Thursday the 16th of February, we had a duffy theatre show at the multi purpose room and the main characters were Duffy, Ruby and Phil. Duffy liked to read a book about doctor who. The way he told us the name of the book, was Knock Knock!/ Who’s There/ Doctor/ Doctor Who?, And that’s and he told us the name of that book while he was in his bed that was standing up. It was a bit funny at the beginning when duffy’s neighbour Ruby, was an old lady and walking like her back was really soar. The when duffy went over to Ruby’s house and had a boogie with her, at the back of her caravan. Then duffy got to look at Ruby’s photo album with all her photo’s in it and her dad as well. When Ruby went back to when she was 4 years old, a plane flew by and Ruby’s dad got called to war out in Crete/Greece. When he went ruby was all sad and duffy was feeling sorry for her. Then Duffy saved Ruby's dad in Greece.

Going To Technicraft
Yesterday I was suppose to be going to softball but I forgot my notice at home. So instead of going to softball I stayed at school in Room 12. When we were in Room 12 we had to do work and other stuff, Until the bell rang when it was the best bit because we were going to technicraft. At Technicraft we make berry smoothies.
When we were at Tamaki College our teacher Ms Tuipolutu took us inside and we sat at random tables. Then we had to get our bowl's of mixed berry's at 2 frozen bananas and put them together, and after we put it together we had to go to Ms Tuipolutu. When we went to Ms Tuipolutu and we got some milk to put in our bowl and let it rest. Then we got yogurt in our bowl. The we mixed it a bit and then put it in a blender.
When it was done we drank it all and sat on 2 tables and talked about our smoothies.

Strange Lights During Earthquake Confuse Onlookers
People in Wellington have witnessed a luminous phenomenon known as earthquake light on Monday morning. An Instagram user Syrian Kiwi who is living in Wellington, posted a video showing the lights flashing in the sky. The user wrote
"Sky during earthquake in Wellington. Hope everyone's safe."
Earthquake lights attend to happen all around the world, where vertical faults allow stress-induced electrical currents to flow rapidly to the surface, producing the Phenomenon. The earthquake lights are a bit like the Auroras and produce a white and blue combination of colours. Earthquake lights only show up when the magnitude 5.0 or higher. Experts say the lights may one day help predict the approach of future earthquakes.

Brotherly Love
Brotherly Love- My Favourite Scene.
My favorite scene in Brotherly Love is when Sergio makes his team win in the NBA finals and his big brother June comes over to congratulate him on his win.
His sister Jackie also runs over to hug him because of how proud he made his town and also his family, his mum even knew about it and she wasn’t there. After his big game they went over to a graduation party. Sergio, Sean and his other friend go over to rob this big house in the ‘Hills’ (That’s what they call it.) Sean and Sergs other friend got caught by the police when they were carrying T.V’s in to their car.
After the other cop arrested Sean and his other friend, he goes into the room where Sergio was and search’s it. He see’s Sergio lying on the floor with his hands up, “It’s all clear” The officer said. Serg was lucky because the officer thought that he was living in that house.

Liverpool Rout Watford, Arsenal Draw With Tottenham
Liverpool stormed to the top of the English Premier League table for the first time since May 2014 after they hammered Watford 6-1 on Monday (NZT). Sadio Mane scored twice and Philippe Countinho, Emre Can, Roberto Firmino and Giorginio Wijnaldum got the others as Liverpool moved one point above Chelsea. Countinho had already hit the wood work before Mane got things rolling with the opener and Coutinho and Can made it 3-0 at halftime. Roberto Firmino added a fourth in the second half before Mane got his second and though Daryl Janmaat grabbed a consolation, Wijnaldum scored the sixth to send them to the top.

A man who snuck into a panda enclosure found himself in a wrestling match in a zoo in Nanchang China. Mei-Ling was sleeping when the visitor who was reportedly showing off to female friends, jumped into the panda house. The panda then woke up and gripped his leg before wrestling with him and pulling him to the ground. The man struggled to free himself and eventually managed to escape. Dinosaur Footprint Found In Gobi Desert
Dinosaur Footprint Found In Gobi Desert
Scientists from Okayama University have discovered one of the largest Dinosaur footprints ever. It is believed to belong to a Titanosaur. Measuring over a metre long, this footprint is estimated to date back around 70 Million years. The scientists say that the footprint that they had found will give them new clues about the big monsters that roamed around this millions of years ago.

Botanic Garden Exploration
Today Our whole school went on our trip to the Botanic Gardens In Manurewa. Once every class hopped off the buses, the teachers took their class to go and explore the different plants that were there. My class (Room 11) went to the Edible Garden first and we checked out some vegetables that we didn't even know about. After a 10 minute walk around the edible garden, we moved on to the Threatened Native Plants. My class just found out some plants that are almost gone because of us humans. We walked around and saw a lot of other plants that were interesting. The last spot we visited was the Rock Garden which look like a nice spot for everyone to relax at while you can look over the water to see some nice ducks swimming in the water. Once We Finished looking at that, we had to look at the Edible Garden again because of some of the attitude that was happening.

Bolt world’s fastest man
Jamaica's runner Usain Bolt has won the 100m final at the Rio Olympics. The result confirms Bolt as the world's greatest sprinter after he claimed his third consecutive Gold in the event. Bolt crossed the line in a season's best time of 9:81 seconds, with Justin Gatlin seven hundreths of a second slower to win silver. Canada's runner came 3rd and took a bronze metal. The win takes Usain Bolt a step closer to his goal of winning a histric triple-triple, which is the combination of winning Gold in the 100m, 200m, 4X100m relay.

Boxing In The Olympics
The best part that I liked in my story of being in the Olympics is when I did my combo on Manny Paquiao and he fell to the floor, and when I did my triple power punch to his face. But the thing I liked the most was when I won, when I celebrated it with my family and also when Paquiao said that I was the best Boxer that he has ever faced at the Olympic Games.

Circus Lions Return To Home
Thirty three lions were removed from circuses in Peru and Colombia during surprise raids organised by Animal Defenders International.
Almost all of the lions have had their claws removed and most have had broken teeth. One lion has lost an eye and another is almost blind, making it impossible for them to survive in the wild. The lions will return to Africa in a week, after spending years in South America. The wildlife defense group has worked with authorities to crack down unlawful wildlife use and trafficking to rescue the animals.

Making A Volcano
Last week on Thursday R11 went to R12 to do science experiments on volcano's. I was with MinZin, Azahar, Suliasi and Anavea. We started off bad because we were'nt collaborating well, because we were'nt talking together and sharing our ideas. All the other groups went outside before us.
We all had to use red food colouring to make it. The ingredients we used were Baking Soda, Dish washing liquid, Food Colouring, Vinegar and A volcano (or a little container).
Method:
1. Use a container to be the volcano.
2. Put 2 spoonfuls of baking soda in to the container.
3. Add about a spoon full of dish washing liquid in the container.
4. Add 5 drops of food colouring (you can use any food colouring).
5. Tip your vinegar in to the container at the top of your volcano.

Fisherman Catches 363kg Black Marlin
An Australian fisherman says that he feels sore after pulling in a 363kg Black Marlin on Wednesday in Perth. This big monster fish took the fisherman 3 hours to reel in.
The catch would have smashed the previous record in Western Australia for the biggest black marlin ever caught (296kg), but after two hours of fighting with the fish, Milne needed help from his friends to keep him upright, which is against official game fishing rules.
The 25-year-old, who caught the fish weighs just one-fifth of the marlin (He weighs 72kg), he said fight with the fish was the most painful experience of his life.

Digital Art
This is my digital art that I drew using the sumo paint online art programme which helps us draw things. It took a while to finish. We also had to write the word Waitangi anywhere on the page which had our art on it.
I made a flag because a lot of people fly it around.

Going To The Airport
On Saturday Me, My Mum, My Two Brothers and my sister are going to the airport to drop of my brother Api because he wants to go back to Motueka.
He wants to go back because he reckons it's boring up here but it's not. When he goes it's going to be boring because he is better than my older brother Ofa. Yesterday they were making plans because we are going on a boat to Motueka. He was also cleaning up under the stairs to see what he wants to take with him and other stuff.
So tomorrow when we drop him off at jet star, I'll give him all my cool stuff like my money and some cool clothes. We are also sending him back not because he wants to go back, it's because he only came up to go to the RaggaMuffin concert with me, my mum and Ofa.
It will be dumb to see him go but cool because I can play on the PS3 by myself, without him asking for a turn and stuff.

How To Write A Narrative
When you write a narrative it has to be like a made up story that hasn't even happened or ain't real. If you are telling a story about something you did, then that isn't a narrative either. It is also need to have where it took place at, When did the story took place, How did the story begin and also Who was in the story. I have written a narrative which is called the last survivors, if you want to see it I will leave a link to my document for the narrative.
A narrative mostly needs a Simile, Metaphors, Onomatopoeia and also Personifications. You need to use the senses like the smell, taste and the eye sight. Right now about to end my quick explanation on how to write a narrative and I hope you have learnt how to write a narrative. The link will be down below.

Food Tech
Food Tech
Today when I went to technicraft we did food tech. I was with the year 8's in my class and the year 8's in room 12. When we lined up we had to get into groups of two and my group was number 8 and I was with Sebastian. When we walked in, we had to get our apron and then washed our hands. Then we got our ingredients for what we were going to make. We made milkshakes, the best part I liked about the milkshake was the foam. At the end we had to say what we thought about the milkshake we made.

Valentines Squirrel
Valentines Squirrel
Valentine’s Day isn’t just for people! Captured in a photo, a pair of squirrels were snapped celebrating the romantic holiday. The adorable photo shows one squirrel offering a red rose to his partner squirrel – looks like roses are a symbol of love in any language!
The photo was snapped by renowned squirrel photographer, Max Ellis, from London. Max says the pair have also been sharing meals of sunflower and pumpkin seeds.

Waitangi Day
On Saturday I went to Orakei for the concert which was the Waitangi Day one. I went with my mum and 3 Brothers. When we arrived we could already hear Troy Kingi before we even made it behind the marai. When we got to our spot, my mum went up close to take a picture of him.

Then the next person came on and I think it was this guy and his sister , she also had the same name as my mum (Kiri), my mum also said that she added them on Facebook. He sang 3 song for the Wahine and the other 2 were for everyone. When he finished this guy who goes crazy with an electric guitar was next, He was basically playing the guitar instead of singing. We waited till it was 1814 to video all of there songs, I was basically videoing them on my iPhone 4 which my brother gave me for Christmas, it was my brothers old phone.
